Jack moved gingerly over to the snow and walked around for a minute to see if he could get the pain to go away or at least lessen slightly. He was glad to be off the ice and onto more stable ground where it was unlikely that he would be falling again or at least if he did it would be a softer landing on the fluffy snow.
“I’m fine.” Jack said half lying half telling the truth. At the moment he wasn’t that fine. His tail bone felt like it had been hit by a small SUV, but he knew that he would be fine in a minute or so after the pain had a chance to sink in. Jack also knew that if he felt sore now it was nothing to how he would feel in the morning. He stopped walking about when he felt Verina place her hand on his arm and turned to look at her. “No. No. I don’t need any help.” Jack said, with a slight smile, trying to reassure her, “I’m fine. Really.”
“How about you?” he asked still standing to the side of her, “Are you alright?”

Verina withdrew her hand from Jack as he said that he was okay. She wasn't too sure he was even though he was trying to convince her of otherwise, "Okay... if your sure," she replied with a slight frown as she looked at him. She had to do something to make it up to him after all it had been her own clumsy fault that he'd gotten hurt in the first place.
"I'm okay," Verina said with a small smile, "Not the first time i've fallen on my butt," she said slight laughter hinted in her tone, "What's your favorite dessert or sweet?" she said brightening slightly since she could always buy him something or make him something when they reached her dad's. She just knew she wanted to make up this whole thing to him.

“It isn’t mine either.” Jack said with a slight laugh. He wasn’t really clumsy but he did have his moments and it wasn’t the first time that he had been in pain or fell on his butt for that matter. He had done it many times in the past, especially when he went over to visit his brother and had taken that snowboarding lesson.
“My favorite sweet?” he said looking sideways at her. She was up to something; he could sense it. “Why?” Jack asked curiously with a grin. At the moment he really couldn’t think of a favorite sweet. He liked them all about the same and picking one would be hard for him if it came down to that. He was determined though to find out why she wanted to know first.

"Yup. your favorite sweet or dessert," Verina replied with a grin as she looked at him not giving anything away, "Out with it," she said her eyes holding a hint of mischeif in their depths. It seemed Jack would always be giving her a hard time all thanks to Brian. Ever since they'd ran in to Brian it seemed Jack liked to give her a hard time and make her pout because he wouldn't give a straight answer.
"No reason. Was just wondering silly," she said with a smile as she looked at him but thought that he might still press her for an answer, "Come on or we're never gonna get there," Verina said as she took his hand and began leading him up the hill in an attempt to get him away from the question as to why she wanted to know, "And come on tell me."

Jack looked over at Verina and laughed a little. He thought about her question a little more and decided that it wouldn’t hurt to tell her his favorite dessert, but thought he would let her stew for a few more minutes. He smiled as Verina took his hand and began to lead him up the hill. He had been thinking along the same lines as her that is they kept at their current pace they would never reach her house. “Ok my favorite dessert is Creme Brulee.” Jack said walking along the side of her still with her pulling him slightly. He had decided to just give her an answer and not mess with her over this particular issue, because he would want an answer sometime and would want her to give him a straight one.
He had been thinking about what Brian had been giving them a bad time about at the Inn. Now that Jack thought about it them going out might not be such a bad idea. They had a lot in common and seemed to get along well together, but now he was just wondering how to ask her. He didn’t know if he wanted to ask her on the trip, because what if she said no and then he’d feel like an idiot and they would still have to spend the rest of the vacation together. But he didn’t know if he could wait until after the vacation to ask her. Just deciding to ask he said, “Err...Verina can I ask you something.” He had stopped walking and there was a hint of nervousness in his voice. “What would you think about going out together?” Jack asked. He kept telling himself that he would be fine if she said no and he would. He’d get over it and make the best out of the vacation, but he hoped she’d say yes and not no.

Her brow creased slighlty as he told her what his favorite dessert was and bit her tongue slightly trying to think if she even knew how to make that, "Okay," Verina smiled if she couldn't figure out how to make it she could always buy it for him or get someone to help her make it. She had been genuinely surprised he had given her a straight answer this time.
"Sure," she replied stopping as Jack did her eyes holding slight curiosity since he seemed kind of nervous for some reason and she wasn't sure what would make him nervous about asking her. Verina hadn't been expecting Jack to ask her that it had caught her completely off guard. She did like him she knew that since he had been there for her, not passing judgement on her, and had even joined her on this wild chase.
A slow sweet smile came to her lips, "You gotta ask me out first and you'll get my answer," Verina said with a smile and was pretty sure Jack knew what her answer would be.

Jack watched as Verina brow creased slightly when he had given her his favorite dessert and decided that he might need to explain what it was. “Creme Brulee is a custard.” he said, “It’s a muggle dessert. I can make it for you sometime if you’d like.” he continued. He had tasted it when he was in America at on of the restaurants there and had gotten his brother to find out how to make it. He had made it a couple of times for his parents, who thought he was a little insane for liking it enough to find out how to make it.
He was glad to see her smile and it relieved some of the his nerves, but was a little shocked by her answer. He thought it was fair enough though and grinning a little said, “Will you go out with me?”

"What about better yet you teach me how to make it," Verina said with a smile liking that idea far more not that she minded Jack making her anything and wasn't telling him she wouldn't like him to. She thought she'd heard of what a custard was before but she definately didn't know how to make it.
"Hmm... let me think about it..." she said pausing for just a moment and pretending that she was seriously thinking about it when she allready knew her answer, "Yes," Verina replied grinning before she hugged Jack. She wasn't sure how long she had wanted to do that but liked how it felt now that she was.

“Sure.” Jack said smiling. He would be glad to show her how to make it and the spin off he took on the original kind. He liked to put finally chopped ginger root in it to give it extra flavor, something that he had seen at another restaurant in the United States. He had been very fond of the dessert the first time that he had it and had become a bit obsessed with trying any variation he could find, but so far his favorite was the ginger one.
Whatever nervousness that had vanished earlier returned when Verina said she needed to think about it. He was pretty sure that she was messing with him, but he wasn’t completely sure. He was thrilled when she finally said yes and beamed even more when she hugged him, which he gladly returned the hug.

Verina enjoyed for a moment how it felt to be in Jack's arms as he returned her hug. Verina froze slighly as she was about to tell him that they should get going because who knows what ld be doing if he had remained in her bedroom against his wishes when the thought of her dad seeing them together struck her, "Jack... Do we tell my dad?" she asked leaning slightly back from their hug so that she could look him in the eyes but not fully leaving it. Well if her dad asked it would explain why a boy had come with her to her house and in so doing so why Jack had.

Jack was still beaming when Verina asked him the question about her dad. He hadn’t thought about that since the time they had planned to go to her house and not his. He thought that it would probably be best to just tell him the truth and see how he reacts. “Err..we should tell him.” Jack said his grin faltering very slightly and only for a moment. “He would probably just find out anyways so we might as well be up front with it.” He continued meeting her eyes and smiling. He really didn’t know what he would do if her dad didn’t take the news well.

"That's what i was thinking too," she replied before kissing him lightly on the cheek as his smile had faltered for a moment when he'd said they should, "Don't worry he'll like you because i like you," Verina smiled, "And i'd like to think i have a good judge of character. Yeah. He most likely would find out about it or in the very least guess as much," she said thinking about it. She doubted her dad would take the news of his only daughter dating someone bad.... okay maybe a little shocked at first but he would get over that.

Jack’s grin was back on in seconds and only widened when she kissed him. He would go with her on this one and take her word that her father wouldn’t over react. She knew him better than Jack did and if she thought it would go over alright then it probably would. “I won’t worry.” Jack said still smiling. There was really no point in worrying now. Right? What was going to happen would and he would just have to deal with it when it came. “Well should we get a move on?” he asked still looking into her eyes. He wondered if her dad was expecting her at a certain time of it was just when ever she turned up.

"Yeah probably," she said with a soft smile as she withdrew herself from Jack's arms. If she didn't make the first move she was positive that they'd end up staying their smiling at each other and not doing much else. Verina took his hand once more but this time entwined their finger's together, "Let's go," she smiled and this time she didn't pull him along but walked beside him.
She smiled as they reached the top of the hill and she could see almost all around them, "I love this place," she said softly taking in the rolling hills and snow covered peaks of mountains before they headed down the hill to where in the distance could be seen a few houses slightly spread apart from each other.
Verina smiled as they reached her front door her house was very much done in the Victorian style like many of the houses their were. She almost got knocked over as her white siberian husky charged her and began licking her face, "Down Frosty," she said between laughter. She knew her dog's name was kinda silly but after all her owl's name was Brownie.

Jack walked beside Verina, hand in hand, and took in all of the surrounding scenery. She lived in a very nice place and he wasn’t used to such wide open spaces. He lived in a bigger city and didn’t have all of these surrounding hills and trees. “It is very nice.” Jack agreed as they came to the top of the hill and he looked around, “The view is amazing.” He hadn’t seen anything quite like it in a long time. There was nothing except rolling hills and mountains all around with a few houses off in the distance.
Walking over to the house where Verina lived Jack was a little stunned when a Husky came charging out of nowhere at them. He didn’t know that she had a dog and was wondering who just let there pets fun wild when it started licking her face. Relieved to see that it wasn’t attacking them and that it appeared friendly enough he calmed a bit. Just in time to hear what Verina was saying. So it is her dog. Jack thought to himself as he bent down to scratch Frosty’s ears. “Cute name.” he said still scratching the dog behind the ears.
