“It went pretty smoothly.” Jack agreed after he had followed Verina out of the study and the door had closed. He thought that it could have gone worse and was just glad that it didn’t. “I hope he did.” he said thinking that he wasn’t really sure that was the impression he had gotten. The reaction he got was more of a stunned one not a ‘I think it is great that she has a boyfriend and he seems nice.’ It was more of a ‘She has a boyfriend? When did this happen?’ sort of impression he got, but oh well either way it had gone alright and he hadn’t had to endure many questions on his character.
He followed her up the stairs and took in the Victorian decorations. He thought that they looked good for the house, kind of matching the look of the actual house. “Ok.” Jack said looking into the spare room and then following Verina into her room. “Its nice.” he said looking around and seeing all of the different influences infused in the room.
“Ya.” Jack said with a laugh. It seemed she had been thinking what he had. He walked over to the Tai Kwon Doe equipment and looked at it. He had never tried it before and only knew a little about it. After looking it over he made his way back over to where Verina was lying on her bed and sat at the end of it. “Your dad seems nice.” he said thinking back to the conversation that went on in the study.

Raising herself onto her elbows she'd watched Jack as he'd inspected her Tai Kwon Doe equipment she hadn't been able to continue that particular interest since she'd gone to Hogwarts. To be honest since she had she hadn't had time to do very many of the muggle sports she'd grown fond of which made her frown slightly until Jack sat at the end of her bed.
Verina sat up so that she was sitting at the end of her bed as well, "Yeah he is," she said with a soft smile since when it came down to it her dad was a good dad in his own way and alot of peple liked him, "And yes i do think he likes you. I think he was just shocked to find out his only daughter has a... a boyfriend now," she said with a slight blush since it was the first time she'd actually voiced it out loud.

“He seemed a little shocked by the news.” Jack said with a smile. So he didn’t seem a little shocked he seemed really shocked but it amounted to the same thing. He looked over at her just in time to catch her slightly blush and thought he might know why that was. It had been less than and hour or so ago that they had actually became boyfriend and girlfriend and it still hadn’t sank in all the way with him yet either. “He probably didn’t know what to think.” he said still smiling a little. He knew his parents would have a similar reaction, but they might be better prepared with how to handle the situation since they had already gone through it with two other boys. “I hope when it sinks in he is still ok with it.” he continued voicing his concern and laughing.

"Yes. He seemed just a little shocked... well more like alot but he'll soon get out of it," Verina said with a slight laugh she could imagine in her mind what her dad was most likely doing at that moment, "Don't worry he'll be okay once it sinks in and will most likely realize how nervous he'd made both of us," she said with a smile before she finally realized another thing her dad had said about eating dinner together, "I hope he doesn't expect me to cook dinner," she said her eyes widening slightly as she sat up straighter.

Jack laughed as Verina agreed with him that her dad seemed more shocked than anything and that he wasn't just a little. "I'm not worried. He seems like he'll take it alright, once it sinks in. I have to admit though that I was nervous meeting him." he said with a smile.
He hadn't even thought about the prospect of eating dinner with her dad until Verina spoke again. Dinner was going to be another ackward event, but maybe it wouldn't be too ackward now that they had just came out and admitted that they were dating. No it was still bound to be ackward. He thought about her statement for a moment before asking, "Sould we go and see?" He thought that they could just go down and Verina could ask her father what they were doing for dinner. That way they would know one way or the other. If he did expect her to make dinner Jack would certainly try and help.

"I was nervous too," she said returning his smile as she looked at him. If only he had been able to see how fast her heart had been pounding he would have known just how nervous she had been.
"Mmm.... Yeah that might be for the best," Verina said with a grin as she jumped up from her bed, "Not that i mind cooking for you it'd still be nice to know," she really didn't mind since after all she did all the cooking when she was home unless they we're visiting someone, "Oh. Would you like to put your things in the other room before going down?" Verina offered with a smile as she stood facing him where he sat.

"Ya and I can try and help if you have to make it." Jack said with a small grin. He wasn't sure how much help he would be, probably more of a hinderance than a help, but he would try none the less. That is if she would let him. He hadn't forgotten about there little chat about burning down houses and he was pretty sure she hadn't either, though that conversation was really late at night so maybe she would have forgotten.
"Sure." He said getting to his feet and picking up his trunk. He then lugged it into the spare room and reappeared thinking that he should give his owl, who he assumed was in the owlery, some food before nights end. He then waited for Verina to join him so that they could go and find out if they needed to make dinner or not.

Verina joined him in the hall way after he'd placed his things in his room that was currently his while he was there, "And as far as you helping me..." she said trailing off her eyes holding amusement as she recalled their last discussion regarding cooking, "I'm afraid you might just burn down my house instead of yours," she teased, "but i suppose if i walked you through the steps you'd be okay. Although... you can never be sure," she said as they made their way down the hall and then down the staircase once more.

Jack looked over as Verina joined him in the hall and met her eyes. "Better yours than mine." he said laughing. So she hadn't forgotten about their conversation and was now using it against him. He found this rather amusing. "No you can't ever be sure." Jack said with a grin as they made there way down the hall and the stairs, "But I'll do my best to try and not burn your house down." He would that is if they indeed were the ones making dinner. Then recalling something that he had remembered from their late night conversation said, "Didn't you say that your normally the one that cooks dinner?"

"No not better mine than your's," she said laughing slightly, "If your gonna be burning anything its going to be your own house," Verina said as she shook her head slightly, "If you do i'm just glad we have a fire extenguisher near by and maybe i should grab another just in case," she teased as she glanced at him, "Yeah," she said frowning slightly, "Which is why i was wondering if i'm cooking this time. I don't think so though," she said as they walked toward her dad's study.

“A fire extinguisher?” Jack joked, “I’m not sure I really know how to use one so what would be the point in having two?” At this point he couldn’t stop laughing. He knew how to use a fire extinguisher and how to cook well enough to know what was likely to cause a fire and what was not.
“Will just have to find out.” he said still smiling and walking with her towards the study that they had left minutes ago, “Either way it will be fine.”

Verina only rolled her eyes slightly as she joined him in laughter, "We both know that you know how to use a fire extinguisher, silly," she said with a smile as she looked at him, "And i know you can cook a bit since your going to teach me how to make your favorite dessert. You just like giving me a hard time. Why i don't know."
Josue raised his head from his paper's as he heard laughter coming toward his study. He couldn't help but smiling if anything it seemed this boy made his daughter laugh which was something she needed. His nerves had had time to cool though the pair hadn't left too long ago.
Verina knocked on her dad's door before peering her head inside and then opening the door the rest of the way, "Dad i was wondering if i was going to be cooking dinner?" she asked as they both walked in and quickly added, "I don't mind cooking."
He smiled as he saw his daughter and Jack come in together, "No mija you don't need to cook tonight. I was thinking about that just before you came in," he said with a smile since after all he wasn't about to make Verina cook even if she offered when she had a guest, "I was thinking maybe we could go to Elan Valley Tavern. What do you two think?"
Verina thought it over it might be less awkward than it just being the three of them sitting at a dinner table trying to make conversation. Also with more people it wouldn't be so weird but she decided to leave it up to Jack since he was their guest, "What do you think?" she asked with a smile as she turned to him.

“Because it is so much fun, plus you have a cute laugh.” Jack said still smiling and laughing as they came to the study door. He followed Verina into the study and waited why they tried to sort out the dinner thing. The tavern idea sounded really cool to him. It would be a bit more fun, not to mention less stressful and awkward, to be in a place with more people and to have something going on around them. Not just the three of them sitting around a table not knowing what to say, though that could still happen at a tavern but there was less of a chance.
“It sounds great to me. Whatever you guys decide.” Jack said not wanting really to make the final decision or for them to feel that they needed to do something special or different just because he was there. He was willing to do anything.

Verina couldn't help blushing when Jack said she had a cute laugh and decided to try to hide it from him by knocking on her dad's room. She'd never really been a girl to blush but Jack managed to get that reaction out of her whenever he said certain things.
"Dad i say we go to the the tavern," she said giving Jack a wink and smile before spinning to face her dad. She really had preferred that idea over spending dinner in the dinning room just them three, "Wait... Dad who knows that i was coming home today or that i'm here?"
Josue couldn't help laughing slightly, "Hmm... i don't know can't say i've told any one that you've arrived. But Brian was here and well you know him. He might have told some people," he said with a smile as he saw Verina's slightly stricken look.
"Brian... damn forgot about that little weazel," she said with a slightly exasperated tone though it was laced with amusement. Her dad only smiled, "Well i'll come get you in an hour or two so we can go," he said as he glanced at his watch.
Verina nodded to her father before exiting his study with Jack, "You don't mind a likely encounter with Brian again do you?" she said shaking her head slightly though she couldn't help smiling, "His dad does own the place after all."

Jack wasn’t that sure if he was up to meeting everyone that Verina knew in town and from what it sounded like it might just turn into that. Maybe not though. Maybe Brian wouldn’t announce it all around the town that Verina was home for the holidays. This part didn’t have him worried the most though, it was the fact that he might announce that she had brought her boy friend with her and then he would be a spectacle. Ah well it still sounded like the best idea so far. At least he would be meeting more people. He had gotten along pretty good with Brian so who knew he might get along with the rest of Verina’s friends.
He followed Verina out of the study for the second time that day and said, “No I don’t mind another run in with him. He seems nice enough.” He wasn’t going to say anything about being slightly nervous about the ‘some people’ part of the conversation and wasn’t going to show it either. It wasn’t like it was going to be a formal occasion and he’d have to answer everyone’s questions in front of everyone else, so he would be fine with meeting more of Verina’s friends.
