"Hmm... yes he's nice but he's one of the number one people that likes to get me riled and see my reaction. You'd think we've known each other for a very long time," Verina said with a sigh before givng Jack a smile, "I don't think Brian would have told the whole world so i think we'll mostly just see tourists at the tavern around dinner time," she commented as she thought about who was likely to be there at that hour.
"Oh would you like to check on your owl before my dad calls us?" Verina asked with a smile as she faced him wondering herself if Brownie was also there or if he'd gone to wherever Kasch was since he was both their owl.

“That will be good.” Jack said listening to her, “I was trying to guess what your father had meant by ‘some people’ when he said that Brian might have told a few people. I thought maybe you guys knew a lot of people in town.” He was a tourist so he would feel more out of place if the tavern was packed with locals and no other outside people. To him it was the perfect situation. He wouldn't get weird stares or questions from friends and acquaintances of the family.
“Sure.” he said thinking he really should check on his owl and make sure he wasn’t freaking out with being in a new place and being slightly abandoned for a while. His owl was used to not seeing Jack at long periods of time, but it was also used to being in a familiar place like at Hogwarts or at Jack’s house. Rarely had it been anywhere else unless it was just dropping off a letter and departing right away.

"Well we do know the locals that live in town and our neighbors of course," Verina replied with a slight smile, "I just meant i have't known many of them for very long like my dad since he's been here while i've been at Hogwarts but some of my friends like Brian act as if i've known them for years," she clarified with a smile since she wasn't sure he had understood her comment before.
Verina smiled as Jack said he'd like to see his owl and led him to the owlery. The owlery was pretty much like the one at Hogwarts except that it was almost completely clean since they cleaned it daily. Also the far side of the room had a huge open widnow at the center so that the owl's could leave during the night if they pleased. They had about three owls beside her own that her dad used usually strictly for work related purposes, "Their's your owl," she said with a smile as her eyes brightened upon landing on Brownie.

"Ah." Jack said when Verina had clarified for him, "Ya he does act like you guys have known each other for years."
He followed Verina back up the stairs to the owlery. He had to admit it was cool. He hadn't seen a real owlery in a residential home before. The only one that he had really ever seen was the one at Hogwarts and Verina's resembled it slightly, except it was much cleaner. Upon entering he immediately spotted his owl who left it's perch and flew over to him, landing on his right shoulder. "Hey." he said as he stroked him. He seemed to be getting along just fine with the other owls and wasn’t nervous at all. Jack hadn't expected to see so many owls up here. He thought it would just be his and Verina's owls, but it looked like they had three more for some reason. Looking over at Verina he asked, “Are all of them your’s?”

Verina couldn't help smiling as Brownie flew toward her and perched himself on her extended arm that she held before her, "Hey boy," she said as she stroked his feathers a slight frown coming to her lips since she hadn't been able to stop herself from glancing to see if he had a letter from her brother. She hadn't really expected him to though and quickly replaced her frown with a smile.
"Oh no," she replied as she looked over at Jack, "Only this guy here. Hi's names Brownie. The rest of the owl's my dad mainly uses for work related purposes," she said as she glanced over them they all we're of a different breed and color, "He likes to be prepared in case he needs to send something else out he likes to have an owl free on hand."

"Brownie. That is a cute name." Jack said looking over at Verina's owl that had settled its self on her arm. "This is Talon." he said indicating his owl on his shoulder. His owl gave a little hoot when it had heard its name said.
"That is good." He said looking at the three other owls. It sounded like a smart plan to have backups incase one owl was away or hunting or something and you needed to have one on a moments notice. It was likely that one of the three would be in the house at all times.

"Thanks," Verina said with a smile, "I know my pets have silly names," she said as she gave Brownie a moment to get his balance as he ruffled his feather before moving toward Jack, "He's cute," she said as she looked at his owl perched on his shoulder, "Does he bite?" she asked extending her free hand slightly toward his owl to pet it.
"Yup. there all pretty friendly and have never let my dad down so he takes good care of them to keep them healthy and happy," she said with a smile as she faced him.

"There not silly names." Jack said with a smile. He thought both her dog and owl's names were one some of the better ones that he had heard. "Thanks." he said turning his head to look at Talon. He smiled at the next question. The true answer was yes but only if provoked. He had bitten his old brother when he had been messing with him and annoying him. "I don't think he will." Jack said hoping that Talon didn't bite her, "He normally will only bite if you mess with him too much and he gets annoyed, but he gives lots of warning before he hauls off and bites you. In fact the only person that he has ever bitten was my brother and he deserved it."
"They do seem happy." Jack said with a smile and another glance at the three.

"You don't sound too sure," Verina said frowning slightly she wasn't really up to the possibility of getting bitten and she didn't think Brownie would react fondly to another owl biting one of his owners. But it seemed like Jack thought he wouldn't and she trusted him so she extended her hand the rest of the and ran her hand down his feather's. After a moment she withdrew her hand and looked at Talon, "He is soft. What did your brother do to deserve getting bitten?" she asked curiosity mingled with amusement as she focused her attention back on Jack.

"I'm sure. He won't bite you." Jack said with a smile. He hadn't meant to scare her. He was just being honest and he couldn't say honestly that Talon had never bitten anyone before, because he had. As Verina stroked Talon the bird hooted softly. He liked to be petted and usually would come down if he saw Jack so that he could be. "Well I think it was a number of different things." he said thinking back to the incident. Talon hadn't bitten his brother hard just had given him a good nip to let him know he wouldn't put up with him. "First he had feed him an over large owl treat that stuck his beak together, then proceeded to laugh and not help Talon out until I came to help. Then he insisted on bugging him until he was eventually bitten." Jack continued thinking that if he was an owl he would have bitten him too, probably even a bit harder.

Verina frowned slightly as she looked away from Jack to Talon, "No can't say that was right of him to do that. In that case i think Brownie here woud do the same or any of our owl's for that matter," she said as she gave him one last sweep of his feather's, "I think if i was in his place i'd do the same and maybe leave a mark for him to remember me by."
"Does her prefer to hunt or be fed?" Verina asked suddenly since it would be important since he'd be staying in their owlery, "If he prefers to hunt i don't think Brownie would mind showing him the best spots or he can go on his own. If he likes to be fed we also have mice." She didn't really like the fact that they kept mice to feed the owl's when it got too cold to hunt but she tried not to think about that too often.

"He's too nice for that. He just gave him a sharp nip." Jack said with a smile looking up at Talon, "It didn't even break the skin. Just pinched it. But it hurt him bad enough that he didn't try it again."
"He can do either." he said thinking that he normally hunts, but Jack had had to feed him before when it was just too cold out to venture out and hunt. "He probably would perfer to hunt now though since it is all new territory to him and it's not too cold. He loves to look around new places and see what he can find." Jack continued. Talon was a very curious owl and just loved flying around the country side by night looking for mice and toads and anything else he could find. "I think he wouldn't mind tailing along with Brownie, but I don't know how he normally hunts." he said not really knowing if he hunted with other owls or by himself. Jack had never really paid attention to that.

"I don't really know how Brownie hunts either," she said with a smile since she didn't she had seen him flying in the sky of course and sometimes he wasn't alone, "Either way if he decides to Brownie wont mind. Will you Brownie?" she said in a baby voice to him as she stroked his feathers and he hooted once, "Also neither would the other's i think if he see's them especially now that Talon will be sharing their home." Their owl's were pretty friendly to owl's that they brought into the house but not so much to other's that they knew weren't invited to stay.
"Would you like to do something while we wait? Whatever you want after all your my guest," Verina said with a smile as she walked over to a small ledge so Brownie could hop onto it, "I'll see soon," she said with a last stroke before turning to Jack.

Jack thought for a minute about something that they could do why they waited for her dad to finish up with what he was working on in his study. “I guess we could go out for a walk or something.” he said walking over to another of the ledges so that Talon could hop off his shoulder on to it. “There ya go.” Jack said, giving Talon a couple of stoke, “I’ll see you later.” Once the bird was off his shoulder and onto the ledge Jack made his way over to the door.

Verina followed Jack to the door and then opened it so they could go outside, "Umm... that sounds like a good plan to me," she smiled as she stepped into the hallway followed by Jack. There were alot of things to see outdoors and the scenery was breathtaking even moreso in the evening since unlike the crowded cities the sky was clear and the stars seemed close enough to touch.
"And i suppose Frosty will come with us not that he doesn't get enough free reign of the outdoors," She said with a smile since she highly doubted that now that she was home that he'd want to be away from her to long. As they reached the stairs she couldn't help laughing as she looked down and spotted an impatient Frosty sitting on his hind legs, swishing his tail from side to side, and wearing a silly puppy smile, "Told you."
