Nodding to answer him, Felicity pulled her feet up on the cushion so she could push herself up onto the arm of the chair. If he wanted to sit with her it was probably best to have him sit in the seat since she didn't think this was really the time to joke around with him and pull him down on her lap, not when neither one apparently had no clue what was going on with the other.
Felicity just didn't understand why he'd try something. Wasn't it one of their kind of unwritten rules that something like that was not going to happen? She thought it was, could have sworn it was, but then he just made her rethink it.
When he did those little things to test and see what was all right to do, she didn't mind because he did back off when she wanted him to, he stopped when she said no. That was important, but it didn't make sense with what he said about trying something. In her mind, from what she'd learned from her siblings, trying something and testing something were two completely different things.
"You wouldn't really try something would you?" Felicity repeated her question. "I mean, you're always testing things and you stop when I don't like it and you've never tried anything before, and I don't want you to now."

When she made room for him, Drew slid up into the seat and placed a hand on her leg, hoping she'd come down off the arm to sit with him. "C'mere?" he asked tentatively, feeling that this probably wasn't the time to add the 'woman' bit.
Her use of the word 'try' reminded him a lot of the 'it' discussion they had had in January, and while part of him was relieved to know what she meant, another part was bothered by the fact that she had to ask. "You know I wouldn't, right?"

When he asked her to sit down with him, at first she wasn't sure. It wasn't because of the discussion, but because she wondered if maybe talking to him from her perch would be a better idea momentarily, she wasn't mad at him, she was just confused and it was when they were mad that they were supposed to have closer contact with one another, but without any further hesitation, Felicity slid down from the arm and settled herself sprawled out on him. Her legs were bent at the knees, feet tucked in against the opposing arm, her head resting back against the arm she'd been sitting on, and she looked up at him.
"I was sure you wouldn't," Felicity told him honestly. "But you confused me. I still don't think you would but what you said doesn't make sense. And I don't think it's funny."

"You're right. It's not funny. I'm sorry," he told her, not actually apologizing for his small snort. He hadn't been laughing at that really, but instead about the thought of being that stupid. But he was sorry he had confused her.
Still, she didn't sound convinced, and that bothered him. She was sure... past tense not present, and she thought he wouldn't, but she didn't know. It was because of that uneasy feeling that he needed her close, just to get some inkling that she at least trusted him a little.
"I wouldn't do that, Felicity," he told her seriously, lowering his voice so the group nearby wouldn't hear him. It wasn't their business. "I'm not going to even try to go there until we're ready... both of us... okay?"

So he didn't think it was funny either, then why did he say he did? Maybe it was just the wrong word, she'd done that before too. Felicity nodded her head to accept his apology but didn't say anything as she was hoping he'd talk to her. She explained as much as she could, but she didn't fully understand what he meant so couldn't say much more until he did.
And Felicity really didn't think Drew would try something, but she didn't like what he'd said because it didn't make sense with what she'd thought.
Taking up his hand and pulling it to her belly, she gently drew little designs along the top of it, but kept her eyes on his. Yes, she knew he wouldn't, he wouldn't dare to begin with, and he was too good of a guy to try something. This she knew, she had since the beginning, but some things he said just made her a little uncomfortable.
Just like when he said he wasn't going to try until they were ready. What if she wasn't ever ready? Dropping her gaze down to her knees, where they sat up in the air, Felicity nodded her blonde head slightly.
"Even if I'm never ready to try something?" she asked for clarification. Sometimes she could barely let him test things, what if she was never ready for anything of that sort?

Never was a pretty long time, but Drew didn't think this was the moment to point that out. The truth was, that while some guys out there made it sound like it was a big deal, Drew really didn't know for himself. He tended to think that they might be right, but since he didn't know first hand, he really didn't miss it. Maybe it was important, but for him, there were things that were more important.
"Okay," he answered softly, watching her face for any sort of reaction he might need to be concerned about. "I'm not dating you so I can try stuff like that..." If that's what he had been in to, there were half a dozen girls out there who would be happy to oblige. At least that's what the boy's room wall implied.

Slowly, Felicity lifted her brown eyes to meet Drew's. Was he really all right with that? If they did by chance stay together and she was never ready for anything, he would be all right with it? That meant it didn't matter to him that much, didn't it? Felicity was sure it did. And it was something she knew, though, he did start kissing her a long time before he asked her out. But she was all right with that, it didn't bother her too much because she wanted to be with him and she knew he wanted to be with her.
Keeping her eyes on him, she just looked at him for a moment, taking in every inch of his face. He wasn't smiling the crooked grin she loved, there was no sparkle in his eyes, no tease on his voice, he was being one hundred percent serious with her, and she appreciated that he was being.
"I know you're not," she said. "I know you wouldn't date someone for something like that, it's not you to do it. I just didn't like what you said, how it sounded." What else could she say? He said he would try something while her dad was there, and it only left her to one conclusion. And while she knew she wasn't ready, wouldn't be for an extremely long time. "You're not ready, are you?"
She wasn't and wouldn't do anything until she was in an extremely long time to come, but that didn't mean he wasn't.

"What did I say?" Drew asked, knowing she had already pointed out the funny comment. He tried to explain further, picking his words carefully. "I didn't mean it was funny funny. I just... okay, so maybe it was kind of... odd... thinking of someonedoing something that stupid. I mean, I wouldn't try it here, so of course I'm not going to try it with your dad around, right? That's all I meant by it."
"You're not ready, are you?"
It was a loaded question and he wasn't really sure how to answer it.
"I don't know..." he answered honestly. "I... I think about it... and sometimes I think I am... but sometimes, I don't think so... so, I guess... if I'm not sure... I guess I'm not, right?" That was part of it, but of course there was more. "I mean... if I want it to be you and me, then... I can't really be ready unless you are, can I?"

"You said it would be stupid to try something around dad, but you left it at that. And I didn't like how it sounded like you'd try around someone else, or if it was just me," Felicity told him, knitting her eyebrows and dropping her gaze again, this time to his hand that she held with one hand and was drawing on with the other. "I mean, I know you wouldn't, and that if you were going to it would probably be easier here than around any of my family, and I know you wouldn't, but I didn't like you left it."
That was it. She just didn't like how he made it sound open-ended.
He didn't know. And she had to agree with him that if he didn't know then he probably wasn't ready. But just because she wasn't ready, didn't mean he couldn't be. "If you're not sure, then you're probably not." That was what her mum told her, that if you weren't sure then you weren't ready. But she blushed when he'd said he thought about it. Did that mean anything about her? Or was it just in general that he thought about it? And on second thought, she decided she didn't want to know. "Just because you want it to be me and you, and I'm not ready, it doesn't mean you can't be though. It just means it won't happen."

Of course, he hadn't meant it the way she took it. He wouldn't try here and he wouldn't try there. "Okay. I'm sorry. It won't happen again," he answered, still not feeling so great about her questioning him about it. If she knew, then she shouldn't have to question, should she? And if she didn't trust him before, she really wasn't going to after admitting he thought about it.
In the long run, he supposed it didn't matter. He had screwed up, making light of a situation that really wasn't. She hadn't liked it and he couldn't blame her for that.
But he wasn't sure if he agreed with what she said about being ready. He understood what she was saying, but he didn't agree. "We're kind of in this thing together," he told her. "I can't be ready unless you are too, right?" It waws probably a case of saying the same thing, using different words, but he wanted to make sure she knew, he wasn't going to do anything until she was ready to go there.

Looking up at him, she wasn't sure how he could guarantee it wouldn't happen again. He wouldn't do something of the sort, she understood and knew that, but he couldn't guarantee she wouldn't think something that he didn't mean. She'd try, but not even she could guarantee that factor. It was just one other thing they had to work on, still work on. But she felt this time it was slightly better, she hadn't gotten mad at him, he didn't seem to get frustrated with her, and they'd talked it out. That was a big step in the right direction, she knew it was.
Smiling, she nodded her head. They were in it together. She liked that, liked how it sounded. But she still didn't agree with him fully. He could be ready even if she wasn't, but it just meant nothing was going to happen. Though, she did like that he said he couldn't be until she was. That sounded nice, too.
Sitting up from the position she'd been sprawled out in, Felicity turned and wrapped her arms around the Ravenboy's neck and rested her chin on his shoulder. "I'm sorry," she finally apologized. "I know what you meant, I just really didn't like how it sounded was all."

He was pretty sure that when it came down to it, they wouldn't be waiting on him. He knew she understood that. He just wanted to make it clear that he didn't mind, even if, as she said, she never got there. It wasn't really going to be him waiting for her if they were waiting together.
Drew still wasn't sure how it sounded other than he had made light of something serious. He thought he had apologized for that, but again she mentioned it. At least she didn't sound or look upset anymore. "I know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have tried to joke about it. It won't happen again."

Maybe it was just the joking, Felicity didn't know. She just didn't like it, and couldn't really explain it more than that. He wouldn't try something, ever, unless she was willing to try too. It was knowledge she cherished in knowing because it made her feel safe around him. That and the fact when he tested little things out on her she knew he'd stop if she told him to. It was really nice knowing that, being able keep that in mind when she was near him. He wouldn't take advantage and would stop if she told him to, it was important.
Turning her head ever so slightly, she placed a light kiss on his ear. "I love you..." she whispered even softer than kiss she'd given him.

He thought that maybe she understood him now... not why he made the joke... he had just done that to be stupid. But, he thought she got that he was sorry for making light of it. He knew he couldn't promise that he'd never say somthing stupid again, or promise that he wouldn't upset her or confuse her anymore, but he could promise to take this particular topic seriously.
He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, smiling as her warm breath tickled his ear. "I love you too," he answered just as softly, not even noticing the eye rollings coming from the table near by.

Those words were amazing to hear. Felicity was sure she'd never heard anything quite as sweet as those words were. True, the first time hearing them was probably the best time, but hearing them again was almost as good. Sighing happily in his ear as she didn't want to pull away when he was holding her so close, Felicity was really glad they managed to talk about something and neither of them got mad, or at least mad enough to ask the other to let them hold them. It was a good feeling; possibly even better than having him hold her, but if it was, it barely was.
With her back turned to the table, she couldn't see any eye rolling or possible shaking of the head. And with her eyes closed just enjoying being held she couldn't see anything coming from behind him either. But she found her mind wandering around to a previous conversation that still bothered her slightly that she hadn't asked Drew about.
"Drew, if someone were to say you had a nice bum, what does that mean?" Of course, she substituted one word for a nicer one. She just didn't like that kind of language. "Just that you have a nice bum, or something else?"
