"I asked you to...?" he started at first, doubting that he'd actually do that and not remembering it at all. Then he registered what whe had said after. "You slept on the floor? Why'd you do that?"

"Because I can't sleep on your bed," Arianna answered automatically. "I wanted to make sure you were okay. I've been so worried about you, I had to make sure you were okay."

"I'm okay," he answered her, though his voice made it clear he didn't really believe it. He wrapped his balnket around himself a little tighter. "I still don't get why you slept on the floor. You could have woken me up you know."

"What for?" Arianna asked, her brow furrowed. There had been no reason for her to wake him and there was no way she was going to force him to sleep downstairs on the couches. And it wasn't like he was going to tell her what was going on, so would have been even worse to wake him up, expecting him to tell her.

"Because you shouldn't have to sleep on the floor..." Drew answered confused. He still wasn't sure why Ari felt the need to check on him. Every other time she had gone up to the boys dorm, she had no problem waking him.

"But I wasn't about to make you get up," Arianna defended. She still didn't want him to know why she'd been up there, not when he was still claiming that everything was okay. If everything was okay, there was no reason for her to bother worrying. At least, that's what he would say.

Drew scrunched his face at her, getting even more confused. "I still don't get why you were up there if you din't want to wake me up in the first place," he told her as he scratched the back of his neck.

"I was just checking on you," Arianna replied, adding in a small shrug. She awaited his reply, certain it would be other claim that everything was okay, nothing was wrong, life is fine and dandy, there was no reason for his nightmares and she should believe it.

"But why?" Drew asked, getting more frustrated with the whole conversation the longer Ari drove it around in circles. It must be a bit like the girls felt when he did it to them... ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

(how did you know ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ) Arianna bit her lip. She really was tempted to keep going on as she was and not tell him anything. After all, he did that with her all the time. "Because I was worried about you," she repeated for the second time that night.

Drew frowned a little as he thought about what she said. There was nothing he could think of that he had done to make her worry. He had a minor melt down in the field the other day, but that had been over a week ago. She couldn't possibly think that was still bothering him.
"Worried about what?" he asked.

"I don't know!" Arianna exasperated, letting her own frustration slip momentarily. It wasn't like Drew was telling her anything. But forget about her keeping silent. "All I know is that something's been bothering you. And it's gotta be bad because when I came up to talk to you, you were having a nightmare. I didn't want to wake you up after I saw you huddled at the top of the bed, so I...I sang to you until...you calmed down."

"Tarzan songs," Drew added, smiling sheepishly back at her. He had been trying to figure out why he had woken up with Phil Collins running through his head.
"I slept fine last night, though," he said and it was only at that very moment that he realized why. "I'm just... I'm just... due for another growth spurt is all," he finished. His mom had made that connection ages ago, but he knew that it wasn't the only reason for his nightmares this time around.

"Oh," Though Arianna was glad Drew had slept well, she now felt a mix of emotions from Drew's explaination. Either it was the truth and she was being silly for thinking it was anything more, or he completely lied to her face because he trust her with the truth. "That's...good."

Drew fell quiet, nodding back and pulling the blanket over his head. He looked a bit like an old beggar woman, huddled there on the couch with just his face peeking out from his covering.
