Arianna pulled the blanket up over her head. She didn't want to look at Drew for the moment as she thought over the week. It made her even more frustrated that she'd spent the whole time worrying about Drew when it was just a stupid growth spurt. He hadn't needed her at all and she'd wasted her energy thinking otherwise.
But still she felt deep down that it was something else. She wanted to trust that Drew had told the truth. It still didn't explain his mood the other day, though. And that's what bothered her most.

"Thanks for staying with me last night, then," Drew mumbled from under his blanket, not really knowing what else to say. If what she said was true, he would have probably spent the night tossing and turning instead of sleeping so well if she hadn't been there.

"You're welcome," Arianna sniffed quietly. She had no clue what else to say. Ask him why he kept up the facade? Or why in the world he expected her to come to him with her problems when he couldn't even tell her his?

Drew heard the sniff and frowned. Either he had said something to upset her or she had caught cold sleeping on his floor. One way or the other, it was his fault she was sniffing. "You okay?" he asked, missing the irony of the question.

"Sure," Arianna croaked. She huddled deeper into the chair. She should be angry at Drew for what he'd put her through the past week, but she couldn't. All the anger she felt was for herself and how stupid she'd been.

"You don't look okay," Drew answered, still frowning at her. He brought his own blanket down just a little and looked steadily at her, wondering if he could fix it or if he would just make it worse.

"I'm okay," Arianna claimed, repeating the very words Drew had been telling her all week. Still, she did not move from under the blanket, but pulled it tighter around herself. Another sniffle escaped, though tried to hide it. "I just...I..."

"You just what?" Drew asked softly, now incredibly worried that he had messed up again. He would have just appologized then and there for whatever it was, but girls had a tendancy to ask what he was sorry for and then get mad when he didn't know for what.

"Nevermind," Arianna muttered. What was she supposed to tell him, anyway? She'd already said most everything that was on her mind. How could she get anything more from him without getting yelled at herself?

"Okay..." Drew answered back, starting to sniff as well. He swipped a hand across his eyes quickly, hoping she didn't see it. "Will you... will you at least tell me what I did wrong?" he tried. If he knew, then he could at least apologize for it.

Arianna didn't answer imediately. She honestly wasn't even one-hundred percent sure if Drew had done anything wrong. They were just thoughts and feelings pointing her in one way while he claimed another.
"I..I've been wanting to know what I did wrong, actually," she finally muttered.

"You? You didn't do anything wrong..." Drew answered, frowning again. It had to be true too. Drew was usually pretty good at figuring out the blame in others- especially if it got him off the hook.

"Then why do I feel so awful?" Arianna asked, sniffling again. She wasn't crying yet, but she could feel her eyes starting to wet. "I thought....I thought something major was wrong. I've been trying to figure it out all week and all you can tell me is that I've been worrying over growth spurt? How stupid is that?"

"Why have you been worrying about me though? I mean... there's nothing to worry about..." he answered, before deciding that would probably just make things worse. I mean... there's nothing... it's just... you can't... I didn't think..."
He realized there was nothing he could say that could fix it. He had stressed her out and made her feel like a fool and now he wasn't sure how to take it all back.
"I'm sorry..." he said, sniffing and swiping at his eyes again.

"Sorry? About what?" Arianna pushed the blanket down enough for her reddened eyes to peer over at the boy. "Lying to me? Telling me everything's okay when it isn't? Not trusting me enough to tell me what your bad mood the other day was all about?"
