It took Arianna a few moments to realize Drew wanted her to read the letter. Taking the crumpled paper, she leaned back enough to read it, but kept an arm around the boy. As far as Arianna had tell, they hadn't broken up as she had thought. Just separated by very serious problems. Whether that made the whole situation better than a break-up, Arianna wasn't sure. At least this way she wouldn't feel the need to hex Alhana for dumping such a great guy. Not that she'd have been able to go through with it.
"Drew..." Arianna tried to speak, but wasn't sure what to say. It was all too much for her to process. She had never ever thought this day would come and was not prepared for it at all.

Drew gave a hiccup by way of an answer. He had done so well keeping it all under control for the last week. There had been the minor melt down Monday morning with Allegra, but she had gotten him through it and he had managed to go through classes with out much of a problem.
But here it was, the early Saturday morning and he was losing it... flat out losing it. He swiped at his eyes again and mumbled to himself. "I can't do this... I can't do this..."

"No. You...you can," Arianna pulled Drew back into her arms again. "I'll help you through it. Just like you helped me. You can do it."

He sat there on the sofa, pressing the palms of his hands to his eyes. If he squeezed hard enough, maybe it would all stop coming out. "Can't do it... Can't help anyone..." he answered back. This was worse than that time she had fallen down the stairs the previous year. At least he had gotten to see her. Now there was nothing.

"It's okay," Arianna repeated the phrase over and over, hoping that by some slim chance it would come true and everything would be fine again just because she said it would be.

It wasn't okay. Nothing was okay. Nothing would ever be okay again. Alhana was hundreds of miles away and he was stuck in Scotland. She had made it perfectly clear in her letter that he needed to stay put- that trying to get to Hungary would just get them both in bigger trouble.
There was nothing he could do but wait it out.

Arianna really wasn't sure what to do but hold Drew. She could remember back when she'd lost someone she loved. All she'd wanted to do was cry or sleep. If it hadn't been for Drew, she didn't know what would have happened to her. She just hoped she could be there when he needed her, like he'd been there for her.

It felt like ages and the sun was peeking through the eastern windows when Drew finally wiped his face with the back of his hand and pulled the blanket off of his head. His hair was probably sticking up on end, but he really didn't care much as he stared into the dying fire, sniffing loudly.

Arianna tried a small smile when Drew emerged from his blanket. She lifted her hand to wipe at the wet spot on his cheek and realized she still had the letter, which she carefully handed back to him.
"Do you need me to get you anything?" she questioned softly, wiping at one of her own tears.

Drew took the letter back and carefully tucked it away in his pocket. He swallowed hard and shook his head, answereing her question. It was a while before he found his voice again. "Sorry..." he mumbled, giving another sniff.

"You don't have to be sorry," Arianna claimed, still in her quiet voice. She stared down at the couch cushion, feeling the need to say something, but struggling to figure out what. "I...I'm sorry I....I'm sorry I made you feel that you couldn't tell me."

"You guys don't really get along well," Drew answered sullenly. It was the whole reason he didn't think Ari would really care Alhana had left. Of course, he saw now that she cared because he cared and even if it didn't make much sense, it made him feel better.

"We....we tried," Arianna offered. They truly had. The two girls had even set up a few pranks together. Arianna hadn't been in the mood to have any excitement that day, but she'd be lying if said she hadn't had a little fun. "I don't think we'd ever be best friends, but she can be fun."

Drew nodded and wiped his face again with the back of his hand. "I think you guys got along better when I wasn't around," he said softly. The three of them together had never really worked out well.

Arianna bit her lip and replied with a jerky nod. As much as she hated to admit it, it really was true. No matter how hard she had tried, Arianna couldn't seem to hang out with both of them together without some sort of trouble arising.
"I'm sorry," was all she could say about the matter.
