Allegra sat up a little smuggly as her brother joined them and she ignored the fact that Alfonz scooted to the far end of the booth. She serenely took a sip of her butterbeer as Celina gave her suggestion.
"Of course!" she answered enthusiastically, thinking the plan was obvious. It was clear that Celina wanted to make her brother squirm and Allegra wanted to join in on the fun. "You know that we live... right... next... door... to each other, don't you?"

Celina cocked her head. Was Allegra serious? Celina looked at her brother in disbelief and then back at Allegra who was clearly in on the game as well. It was great how obvious the game was. Though Drew still seemed annoyed, and Alfonz was just growing more annoyed by the second. "No, I had no idea. And you met Alfonz at....Shay's birthday party?" Celina decided it was only fair to go back to the meeting place of where Allegra and Alfonz had met, just so she could get everything straightened out. "And she's your roommate?" Celina questioned.

"How about we don't encourage the game any further," Alfonz said coldly as he looked at his younger sister. He knew the game well, they had played it many times. And the information he could pull out would not only embarass his sister, but in the end she'd never want to see these people again. As much as he wanted that, it wasn't the righ time and Alfonz knew it.
"Plus, Celina," he said sternly. "My life is boring and nothing that I haven't told you by now, is worth your time worrying about. What we should be talking about is how I think you should transfer from that school of yours and the best place for you to go."
Out of no where, and the lowest move to the game yet, but it was one that would make all of the occupants at the table squirm and since Allegra worked at Hogwarts, maybe some answers answered. A fun night? Celina wished. But an informative one, that could prove most useful. And as Alfonz had told Celina multiple times before, everyone had their uses.

Celina stopped, her grasp dropping into the seat beside her as she looked at her brother, shock and terror in her eyes. "Transfer?" She believed him. Was he still playing the game? Was he joking? She couldn't tell from his voice, he had sounded so serious. "Mother and Father wouldn't allow it..." she trailed off knowing that that wasn't entirely true. Her worried expression found it's way to Allegra, and finally to Drew before heading back to Alfonz.
He shrugged and said, "Wouldn't they?"

Drew snorted at Alfonz's comment. Before the Thorntons had sent their children thousands of miles away just for school, they had done a lot of researching on the subject. When Drew had been tempted to try and get himself kicked out, he had done his own and come up with the same conclusion.
"The best place is Hogwarts," Drew answered with a roll of his eyes, knowing darn well that Alfonz had gone to Durmstang. On the other hand, he was starting to wish he had as much say over Allegra's life as Celina's brother had over hers.

Celina flinched a bit as Drew retorted, but all Alfonz could do was smirk.
"Is it now? With an ex-auror that attacks random people on the streets, a half breed, vampire professor who wasn't even a wizard of any sort before becoming a vampire....in other words a muggle teaching the students....what else?" Alfonz placed his pointer and thumb on his chin looking for more reasons why the school was one of the worst schools to send a child to.
"Oh, and....of course I mean no disrepect to the Deaputy Head Mistress...but without her even being there....not even commenting on what is being said about her....the school seems to be the target of all sorts of unwanted....activity." His eyes glared at the young boy, lips curling at both sides.
"Best? Maybe it was, Mr. Thornton. But it seems to be dropping when it comes to acedemics, not to mention safety." Alfonz looked at Celina. Her expression of shock and terror had not changed one bit, for she knew all too well how much safety did matter to him when it came to his younger sister. He took another sip of his drink.
Two can play the game, Celina...even when you do seem to have back up...blood is thicker than water, my dear sister....blood before water Alfonz could already hear the bells of victory. Either that, or the growls from the Thorntons...either way, it sounded like victory to him.

Drew snorted again as Alfonz spoke, obviously about Brady and Marcos, neither of which the Ravenclaw cared for. Drew had already been wary of Brady, but even more so after what Celina had told him about the interview she had.
And Marcos? Drew was still angry over having to surrender his wand to the man. Now that he was 17, Marcos had another thing coming if he thought Drew would hand it over. And Alfonz was right. Why was a vampire bitten Muggle teaching at a magical school. Granted it was just astronomy, but still the man wouldn't be able to give the magical perspective of things very well, which was really the whole point of having the class, wasn't it?
"Brady is an ass," Drew stated flatly, taking a sip of his butterbeer. He was trying to get along with the ex-auror for Raynor's sake, but still found it hard. "And Marcos is a bully. And Raynor... well, that's the Prophet for you, isn't it. Raynor will get out of this before things go too far." Maybe it would actually get Ticloon off of her butt too.

Was he agreeing with Alfonz? "And still you defend your school's safety? That surprises me...however, do you have the resources to move?" Alfonz only questioned, looking at both the Thortons. And then before they could answer he stated, "Yet, both of you are still there. See, that's the difference I think. I'm not there to make sure....to convince myself of anything the Prophet says or does not say. Only what I have read, and personally experienced..." Alfonz trailed off into a low growl thinking about Brady and his unfortunate meeting with the man. Yes, it had pleased Alfonz greatly to find out about him being fired, but sickened to find out that he was then hired as a professor at the school. A man who in a sense was after Celina for whatever reason, and now had talked with her. It sickened him to no end.
"I just question the reliablity of the staff at Hogwarts....not to mention the rising threats that one hears about in the Prophet all the time. For instance," Alfonz rose his head and leaned back in the corner of the booth, shifting himself to face more toward the Thorntons. "What about....what's his name.....Robert Shaw? Wasn't he a professor there as well?"

"Alfonz!" Celina hissed bending over the table at her brother. "That's enough, you win...." the horror still in her eyes, but now because of a topic that should never have been brought up. Transferring? He was lying and if he wasn't, Celina would get her mother to tell both him and their father that she wasn't leaving. Though...she couldn't say it herself. Not then...not at the table in front of Drew or Allegra. It would be disrespectful, and already by playing the game she had shown her limit in disrespect.
Celina only briefly glanced at Allegra before sitting back in her seat and casted a worried glance at Drew. Alfonz knew not of what traveled around the school, but if he had read the articles in the prophet he'd know about the kidnappings that had happened a year ago. Whether he'd know about Drew or not, Celina didn't recall, and the way Alfonz acted with Drew she highly doubted it. But Shaw was a great professor, and a great loss to the school. Yes, he was still the now known administrator for the Deva and a wanted man, but it wasn't something that had to be brought up over the table. It had gone far enough in Celina's mind. Not to mention, she didn't want to talk about the interview with Brady again. Not tonight.
"I mean...." she looked up at the table occupants and nothing came from her mouth.

Allegra made a move to speak but Drew put his hand up to stop her, signaling that he had this one. He was actually surprised she backed down, but maybe it was because she had been too angry to actually say anything.
"Oh... we have resources," Drew answered with a raise of his eyebrow finding the implication insulting even if they hadn't. "And no, you aren't there, so maybe you should trust your sister instead of believing a hag rag like the Prophet." Heck the Quibbler may be full of nonsense, but at least the stories they printed weren't slanted to make the Ministry look good.
Allegra moved again at the mention of Shaw and Drew shook his head at her. He was okay with this one too. "Shaw fooled everyone. But he played it stupid. If he hadn't blown that last mission of his, he could have not only gotten the information he was after, but also half the school behind his cause. He was that well trusted."
Bringing Shaw into it only strengthed Alfonz's argument though and Drew knew it. "We've had a string of sorry teachers, I won't deny it. Before Shaw took over the class, Herbology was a joke. Before that, the Defense position was thought to be cursed. But every school will have a history of the good and the bad, the great and the mediocre. Hogwarts gets it's downfallings splashed across the papers for the simple reason that it is the best and there are those that want to bring it down."

The boy had guts. Not even Alfonz would have gone against Celina's pleas to stop. But then again he found that that was why he was her brother, and not the Thornton boy. No respect for the others, and more internal rage than actual common sense. Celina's head was down and as she had tried to speak and make everyone stop, they hadn't. Or at least the Thornton boy hadn't. And he was supposed to be Celina's friend? Alfonz's smile turned into a momentary smirk as he looked at the boy.
Mistake number one, Mr. Thornton, Alfonz thought to himself as he reached across the table and lifted his sister's face with his hand gently. "It's alright, Celina....I haven't won anything by upsetting you. I'll stop." It was almost to perfect, a situation not even Alfonz would have even dreamed to work out so well. And as he pushed her hair behind her ear, he smirked at her. "My point's proven any how."
Sure, it was a blow, but it was small and he couldn't help himself. He knew Celina would see that, and see the way he had. Returning to the position he sat in, he crossed his arms and shrugged a bit at Drew. "Excuse my obvious intrusions. I only mean the best for, Celina. I'm sure the two of you understand how much family is important..." though I doubt you know how much.

Her pleas for them to stop was ignored as she almost figured they would be. Drew continued and Celina found herself looking more in more in her lap as they spoke of the old Herbology professor and such, almost directly proving Alfonz's point even more. Drew was very smart, but Celina doubted his ability to fight back well everytime. And even now as he proved point after point of Alfonz's, she couldn't stand to hear anymore of the conversation. Closing her eyes tightly, she tried to drown them out. It wasn't until she found a hand on her face lifting her gaze up to her brother's that she finally listened and heard nothing.
They had stopped talking finally, and Alfonz was complying. She was grateful in a sense because even she had a question about Shaw and if he had failed so many times why then was he not yet caught....but she'd ask it later to Drew in private or maybe discuss it more with Alfonz. He'd surely have his own theories. Looking into his eyes, however, she could see that he didn't want the conversation to end there. Not on that note of winning, but just barely. He wanted his point driven home...but to her relief he backed down. What? Why? That wasn't like him to back down from a discussion of wits. It made no sense.
She smiled though, glad that it was over, and when he apologized she nodded. She too was sorry. Sorry for inviting them over, for challenging her brother in a game that she knew she couldn't win. Sorry for the whole thing. Sitting at the table, she almost wondered how she could make it better, almost wanting to mend the areas of tearing that had been there since Drew and Alfonz had met. In Celina's mind, they had just met on the wrong foot. Looking at Drew and Allegra, she smiled widely and said softly, "So, Alfonz and I were talking about going flying sometime. Alfonz has access to one of the stadiums....you guys want to come with us?"
Celina looked to Alfonz almost expecting a scowl or something, but there was something different in his eyes. Triumph? That wouldn't surprise Celina, but even now as she invited the Thorntons with them on their mini trip, he didn't flinch, choke on his drink, or anything. "What do you say Alfonz?" she asked him. His silence was making her nervous.

She was still insisting that she could fly? It was cute in a way how she wanted to show herself off to Alfonz and all he did was shrug. Did he care if they came with them? Very much so, but at the same time his battle of the wits with Drew wasn't finished. Not in the least. And if he couldn't do it with Celina around, he'd have to make his presense more available, as much as he hated the sound of that.
"Celina, that is your day I told you. Whatever you wish for it, I said I'd grant." He said no more. Now it was up to the Thorntons, though, he expected them to decline gracefully.

"Drew, back down," Allegra hissed at her brother as Alfonz dealt with Celina. She knew how commited he was to the school and to Raynor and she admired that about him. Who'd of thought that her goofy little brother would ever have so much conviction.
But it wasn't worth making Celina upset. It was obviously a difference of opinion, looking at the same topic from opposite sides, both agreeing on the problem, but not really coming together on the solution. Alfonz wanted to bail, to give up, and that was his right. They were talking about his sister after all. But it wasn't the Thornton's way. Her parents had taught her to fight for what they believed to be was right. If Hogwarts was collapsing then they had to work harder to build it up again. It was the world's most well-reputed school and they had to work to keep it that way.
She made a move to leave, signaling her brother with her eyes that he had been right, they had no business being there. She really didn't care for Alfonz's tone, thinking that he wore his devotion to his sister on his sleeve, showing it off and announcing it as if it was proof that he was a good brother. Allegra would take Drew over him anyday.

It still struck him as unbelievable how Alfonz and Celina came from the same family. What disgusted Drew the most was he had actually been looking forward to meeting the guy. He had been excited over the prospect only to find the guy was a prick.
Drew was ready to comply with Allegra's silent request, never wanting to have joined the table to begin with. When Celina changed topics though, he looked at Allegra to see what she thought about the matter. He'd stay put if she wanted to.
